About us

One little *drop* of inspiration....

Or lots of drops—especially during Florida’s rainy season, which we’ve experienced countless times. We’re not ones to leave the parks when those sudden showers hit (partly because we want to get the most out of our park ticket dollars, and partly because... playing in the rain is kind of fun). But we have thought, “Hey, why can’t we balance the practicality of a poncho with something a little more unique - something fun?” Heck, let’s even make it fun to say.

Ponchocho was born.

Ponchocho is the result of two goofy, Disney-loving dreamers turning an idea into reality. The production happens in—of all places—a garage in Western New York. Dusting off our old computer design skills has been more fun than we ever imagined. Installing and operating commercial printing equipment? Way more challenging than we imagined. But our biggest ray of sunshine comes from the idea that we get to play a (very small) role in your special memories—maybe turning a soggy park day into a photo opp, a fashion statement, or just a practical way to keep exploring with a smile.

You may get wet. You won’t get soaked—not if we have anything to do with it.

Thanks for droppin' by,

Jon & Brooke

Meet Brooke

Growing up in Buffalo, I knew that when the snow finally began to melt and those stubborn little blades of green grass started poking through (yay, color!), it could only mean one thing: time to pile into the Ford Windstar and head to my favorite place on Earth.

One Magic Kingdom day in 2003, the forecast promised an hour of rain—but instead, it poured for eight. What could’ve been a ruined day became one of my favorite memories: no lines for most attractions, puddle-jumping through Fantasyland, and nonstop laughs. Sure, there was also the less glamorous part—eating packet oatmeal (courtesy of our 192 motel’s continental breakfast) in a laundry room at the Polynesian while waiting for our soaked outer layers to dry so we could go back into the park for the evening.

That day introduced me to the rainy day parade at Magic Kingdom—and the realization that rain doesn’t have to ruin the magic, my parents are pretty cool, and… oh yeah! Ponchos would’ve been swell.

Fast-forward, and the road trips continued; I became a timeshare-presentation attendee pro, wrote middle school career reports on Imagineering, watched reruns of Modern Marvels and World of Color, and discovered early-internet discussion threads full of Disney tips, tricks, and Easter eggs. I was obsessed with the idea that every detail—from the scent in Soarin’ to the stamp in the sidewalk—was intentional. I knew I wanted to be part of creating that kind of experiential magic.

I joined the Disney College Program (shoutout to DHS right block!), earned my degree in Digital Media, and started doing the corporate ladder thing back in Buffalo. But through a mix of happy accidents, timing, and bold leaps of faith, I teamed up with my best bud to turn a wild idea into a real business. Making magic in new and unexpected ways.

Meet Jon

My Disney journey didn't start at birth, but rather at age 13—just old enough to vividly remember the magic but young enough to spend the next two decades eagerly anticipating my return. Though Disney holds special memories, my love for adventure (and a good thrill ride) extends far beyond just one park. Whether it’s the towering coasters at Six Flags or deconstructing the mesmerizing detail of Disney’s Imagineering masterpieces—like Guardians of the Galaxy, which feels like Walt’s original vision for Space Mountain—I’m hooked on the joy, imagination, and storytelling that these experiences create.

But let's be real: not every theme park day is picture-perfect sunny. On one particularly memorable night at Magic Kingdom, a sudden, epic downpour cut the fireworks short, creating a chaotic yet hilarious stampede for cover. Another rain-soaked adventure found me stranded in a flooded parking lot, courtesy of leaving my car's lights on all day. After two frustrating hours of failed jump-start attempts, soaked clothes, and rising regret over the forgotten headlights, I finally got the engine to turn over—and only then could I laugh (a little) about how miserable the whole thing had been: rain doesn't ruin the day—it makes the memory.

Fast-forward to a recent trip during runDisney weekend in fall 2024. Though my half marathon day was thankfully dry, a different park day found me caught unprepared amidst an ocean of identical, bland ponchos. All those carefully planned family shirts—the vibrant expressions of individual spirit—vanished under uniform plastic coverings. In that moment, inspiration struck: why not turn ponchos into another canvas for family fun, creativity, and personal expression?

Because rain has a funny way of amplifying the magic. It clears crowds, refreshes the air, brings spontaneous fun, and transforms minor inconveniences into the stories families retell forever. My quirky tradition of making grass-angels in the hub—even when it’s wet—reminds me that life’s best moments often come unexpectedly.

Ultimately, my goal with our ponchos is simple yet profound: to help families and friends not just weather the rain, but cherish the memories it creates. Because long after the vacation ends, it’s these stories—shared over holiday dinners, graduation parties, or even quiet moments saying goodbye—that truly keep the magic alive.
